Manor seen as haven for potheads, dope fiends
University officials confirmed on March 23 that the rumors of a student at Hamline selling drugs on campus were indeed true.
“The administration has seen a lot of activity surrounding this individual, and we will do everything in our power to make sure that she -----č wait, he or she -č is apprehended and reprimanded for her actions,” said VP of University Relations Dan Loritz in a recent public statement. “Hamline has always been dedicated to being a drug-free zone for all students.”
The statement was made after several students witnessed what they presumed to be a drug deal on the stoop of Manor at approximately 3:17 a.m. on the morning of March 11.
“We were just out for a walk when we noticed a few shadowy figures standing at the entryway,” said Paul
Leathers, a first-year living on campus. “We weren’t sure what was going on, so I just yelled ‘Wuzzuuup?’ like I always do.”
At that point, Leathers said, the shadowy figures “slinked” off around the corner and then took off at a dead sprint.
Another witness, who declined to provide her identity, explained: “After they left, we went up to the stoop and found a bunch of drug paraphernalia, some needles, a hookah, and some funny-shaped pills.”
The students gathered the items together and turned some of them back in to the campus security office and filed a formal report. The group described what they had seen to the campus security officer on duty, who took the report to university officials.
“The description that these fine, upstanding students, who bravely put their lives at risk to ensure that these drug dealers are caught, accurately matched the descriptions that we have gotten from other students in the past,” said Loritz.
“We have every reason to believe that the person they saw is the same person we have had described to us in the past.”
According to the Hamline’s formal statement on the issue, students should notify campus security if they see any suspicious behavior being perpetrated by a figure matching the following description:
•4’8” - 6’3”
•110-260 lbs
•13-22 years old
•Dark hair
•Dark eyes
•Wearing a hoodie
•Selling drugs
