Ewert named All-MIAC in women’s basketball
Junior Laurisa Ewert was named All-MIAC women’s basketball first team.
Ewert was eighth in the MIAC in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game. She was also second in rebounding (8.2 per game) and second in steals (2.89 per game).
In conference games, Ewert shot 40 percent from the floor (108-269) in 18 games.
For the season, Ewert had five double-doubles, three in MIAC play. She scored a career-high 34 points against St. Mary’s on Jan. 12.
In all games, Ewert posted 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.27 steals per game.
Korchik earns honorable mention in women’s basketball
Carolyn Korchik became the seventh player in Hamline women’s basketball history to reach the 1,000-point mark.
She was 14th in the MIAC in scoring, with 12.7 points per contest.
Korchik was also eighth in the conference in three-point shooting percentage (.370). She tied a MIAC
mark for three-point shooting percentage in a game when she hit seven of seven from beyond the arc against St. Thomas on Dec. 6. The old mark was set by current head coach Melissa Young-Kruse.
Korchik was named to the All-MIAC first team during her first-year and sophomore seasons.
She started all 24 games this season, averaging 13.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Aukes and Wiener named honorable mention in men’s basketball
Senior Brandon Aukes and sophomore Sam Wiener were both named All-MIAC honorable mention while
Wiener was also named to the All-Defensive team.
Aukes led the Pipers in both scoring and rebounding during conference play.
He scored 11.5 points (21st in the league) and pulled down 6.4 rebounds per game (ninth in the league).
Aukes scored a career-high 26 points on seven of 11 shooting and scored the game-winning basket with four seconds left in Hamline’s 93-91 win over then conference-leading St. Thomas.
In all games, he led the team with 11.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Wiener averaged 8.1 points and 5.1 assists in 20 conference games. He also led the league in steals with 2.55 per contest.
He recorded his first career double-double with a 10-point, 11-assist performance versus Augsburg on Feb. 7.
The sophomore amassed 131 assists over the 25-game regular-season schedule.
Young named ALL-MIAC in women’s hockey
Junior goaltender Rachael Young was named women’s hockey All-MIAC first team.
Young finished the season with a save percentage of .900 while making 681 stops. She had a goals against average of 4.24.
In MIAC play, Young posted a save percentage of .901 with a 4.07 goals against average. She had a record of 3-9-1 in the MIAC.
Young holds the Hamline records for career saves and wins.
Gross named honorable mention in women’s hockey
Senior forward Emily Gross was selected honorable mention and led the Pipers in scoring with nine goals and two assists for 11 points this season.
Gross tied the school record for goals in game with four versus Bethel on Dec. 4. It was the fifth hat trick in
Hamline women’s hockey history.
She ends her career as the Pipers’ second-leading point and goal scorer.
The four wins Hamline posted in 2004ą05 tied a school record. The team’s seven points in conference action (3-13-1) were the most received since the team’s inception.
Taragel named honorable mention in men’s hockey
Senior Lubos Taragel was named men’s hockey All-MIAC as he led the Pipers in conference play with four goals and five assists for nine points.
In all games, Taragel tied for the team lead with 17 points (eight goals, nine assists).
Wagner named honorable mention in men’s hockey
Junior Shane Wagner was named honorable mention for the second time of his career. He had two goals and four assists during conference play.
Overall, Wagner was third on the team in scoring with three goals and 11 assists for 14 points.
