Staff Writer

In their final weekend of play, the Pipers were unable to topple Augsburg, losing 6-2 and 1-0 on Feb. 24 at Augsburg. Six different Auggies scored in the game.

Hamline trailed 2-0 before first year Emily Toenes scored on Auggie goaltender Kristin Johnson.

Sophomore Andrea Davis provided the assist on the power-play goal.

Augsburg retaliated with another goal before the break.

When the teams returned to the ice, Augsburg scored twice in the second period to take a 5-1 lead.

Senior Regina Voracek netted the Pipers’ final goal on the power play at the 3:07 mark of the third period.
Hamline scored both goals on power plays.

The Pipers were outshot 45-19, and junior goaltender Rachael Young made 39 saves on the night.

Saturday afternoon at the State Fair Coliseum, Young had an impressive 40 saves, but her team was not able to rally around her.

The Pipers outshot their opponents 5-4 during the first period; however, they were outshot 37-7 during the final two periods of play.

After a hard-fought game, Auggie Laura Prasek scored with less than seven minutes remaining. Hamline killed five power plays.

The Pipers tied the school record for total wins in a season and had their best conference record in the team’s history.

Last week the conference office announced All-MIAC teams.

Young was named all-conference first team and senior Emily Gross all-conference honorable mention.

Young finished the season with a .900 save percentage and 681 saves.

She currently holds the record at Hamline for career saves and wins. She had a record of 3-9-1 in the MIAC this season.

Gross led the team in scoring with nine goals and two assists (totaling 11 points).

She scored the fifth hat-trick in women’s hockey history when she tied a school record with four goals against Bethel on Dec. 4. She ends her career as the second leading point- and goal-scorer.

The four wins Hamline posted this year tied a school record. The team’s seven points in conference action (3-13-1) were the most received since the team’s inception.
