MIAC appoints new executive director

Sports Editor

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced that Dan McKane has been selected to serve as the new executive director of the MIAC beginning July 1.

McKane has served as the assistant executive director for the past five years and will succeed Carlyle
Carter, who previously announced his resignation effective June 30, 2005.

Carter was the first true director the MIAC has ever had; thus, McKane will be only the second executive director in conference history.

McKane, a South St. Paul native, joined the conference staff in 1999. He is a 1996 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, a MIAC school located in St. Peter, Minn.

McKane graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management.

While at Gustavus, McKane competed in soccer and served as an assistant men’s soccer coach for the Gusties for three seasons after graduation.

Prior to joining the MIAC office, McKane worked as the director of marketing and ticket sales for the Minnesota Thunder professional soccer team.
