What’s plowed when:
When a snow emergency has been declared, night plow routes are plowed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. They’re the busy streets č marked with signs that say “Night Plow Route.” Also that night, one side of north-south residential streets will be plowed. They’re marked with signs that say “Night Plow Route This Side of Street.” All downtown streets are plowed at night.
Day plow routes are the ones not marked with signs. They’re plowed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., normally following night plowing. They’re east-west residential streets, plus one side of north-south residential streets č the side WITHOUT the plowing signs.
After a street is fully plowed to the curb, feel free to park there, even if snow emergency parking rules are still in effect. “Fully plowed” means the street is completely cleared and plowed to the curb. Plows may come through more than once, so make sure that it is fully plowed to the curb before parking.
Ticketing and towing: All vehicles present on roads designated for plowing will be ticketed and towed. The cost is $128.40 for the tow lot, plus a $15 storage fee, and $43 for the ticket. The impound lot nearest to Hamline is just off Como Ave. at 1129 Cathlin St. (west of Snelling, near the State Fairgrounds). Vehicles tagged and towed from locations south of I-94 are taken to the police department’s regular impound lot at 830 Barge Channel Rd.
