Linda Hanson

Leadership Skills

• Since 2000, served a president of the College of Santa Fe (a comprehensive college with liberal arts undergraduate and graduate programs serving 2,000 students).
– Led in the creation of a 5-year strategic plan that dramatically transformed the college’s student services, academic structure, and finances and produced innovative interdisciplinary academic programs.
– United disparate academic departments and campuses into one unified brand.
– Increased retention from 60% to 76% for returning first-year students.
– Established a senior administrative team and Cabinet.

• Served as vice president for university relations at Seattle University (a four-year liberal arts university with professional schools serving 6,000 students) for nine years.
– Was instrumental in the acquisition the Seattle University School of Law, and integrated it into the university.
– Concurrently served as assistant provost for executive education, where she developed an interdisciplinary program of executive leadership training through its schools of business, education and theology, providing executives at Boeing, Wyerhaeuser and other Seattle companies with a 21-day $17,000 curriculum.
– Taught graduate courses in education and management.

• Other leadership experience
– Served as president of the Independent Colleges of Washington, a consortium of ten private colleges and universities.
– Served as vice president for development at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.

Fiscal Management

• College of Santa Fe:
– When she started at CSF, the college was adrift with a $3 million annual deficit on a $20 million budget. She recovered the budget and created positive audits for the past three years.
–Developed a $52 million master plan for the 90-acre Santa Fe campus. So far, a $4.8 million tennis center has been built along with a $5 million classroom facility.
– Launched a $15 million capital campaign to build the endowment and the student center.

• Seattle University:
– Completed a 4-year $66.8 million capital campaign, and exceeding the goal of $55 million by over $11 million. Received 18 gifts of $1 million or more, with over 16,000 people donating.
– Two years after the capital campaign was completed, raised another $3.5 million for a new facility.

• Has a 20-year proven track record of leading successful development programs

• Shares governance responsibilities and has experience working with boards and councils. Her 5-year visionary plan at the College of Santa Fe brought together 70 participants.
