Service Suggestions

There are many areas of leadership opportunity and community service where an LISN fellow may take an interest. The Wesley Center and LISN director Tom Duke are both concerned with issues that directly affect Midway neighborhoods. Here are some projects for potential fellows, suggested by LISN developers:

•Affordable Housing - Alternative housing options for the elderly, students, and large immigrant families

•Community Arts - Cleaning up graffiti, area developments in theatre and music venues

•Neighborhood Safety - Creating neighborhood block clubs, training residents in crime prevention

•Youth Activities - Building youth centers, creating after-school programs, mentoring

•Intercultural Relationships - Collaborations between different places of worship, interfaith and intercultural community centers

•Economic Development - Training for micro-entrepenuers, helping businesses occupy appropriate locations, creating student-friendly businesses, small business development
