    October 13-14, 2011

This year's theme for the Wesley Scholars' and Mahle Scholars' retreat was "Keeping our Lives in Balance".  We traveled to Dunrovin Retreat Center, along the St. Croix River near Stillwater for an overnight of spiritual exploration, journaling, guided meditation, baking bread and getting to know one another better.  Participants included Wesley Scholars:  Michael Riley,  Rachel Marzahn, Rola Alkatout, Mac Garrett, Jozie Nummi, Cassidy Kleinheksel, Caitlin Nosanov, and Beth Ziebarth; and Mahle Scholars: Christine Hubred and Kaisa Jackson.  Religious and Spiritual Life staff from the Wesley Center included Megan Dimond and Nancy Victorin-Vangerud.

The Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service, and Social Justice welcome Dr. John B. Cobb Jr. for the annual United Methodist Heritage Lecture entitled Beyond Spiritual Bankruptcy: Why United Methodist Theology Still Matters. The lecture is free and will be held in the Hamline Church on Thursday, November 3 at 7 p.m.

Hamline University was named to the 2015 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition that an institution can receive for its commitment to community, service-learning, and civic engagement. Hamline is the only institution in the state of Minnesota that was recognized in all four honor roll categories.
