Hamline University students tutor Hamline Elementary students in their classrooms and focus on subjects such as Everyday Math, Reader’s Workshop, Science, Writing, and English as a Second Language.The mission of the Tutoring Program is to provide high-quality tutoring at Hamline Elementary that enriches learning opportunities for both university and elementary students. Hamline Elementary students and teachers gain extra support in the classroom, while Hamline University students learn what it’s like to work in the field of Education. University students can earn money through Federal Work-Study funds.
The 2013 John Wesley Award winners are Lynne Chung and Heather Hammond (undergraduate), Domonique Gilmore (law/grad), Melissa Embser-Herbert (faculty), and Sherrie Fernandez-Williams (staff).
