• Letter from the Director

Welcome to all new and returning students, faculty and staff of Hamline University. It is the goal of Hamline University Safety and Security Department, in partnership with you, to make your experience at the University a positive one. Safety and Security strives to provide a safe and healthy environment through quality law enforcement services and community problem solving partnerships.

As in any community, all members of the community share the responsibility of achieving and maintaining this quality of life. Communication, information, and trust are key components to this successful partnership. It is our belief that an informed community is a stronger community. We utilize various avenues to build partnerships and provide information, including but not limited to, the HU Alert, the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, partnerships across campus and participation in various student or employee led initiatives.

Safety and Security officers and dispatchers work 24/7/365. We are located in the Bush Student Center, on the first floor. Our officers conduct foot, bike and vehicle patrols, respond to reports of crimes, and provide information and resources to the community.

I encourage all students, faculty, staff and visitors to familiarize themselves with the resources offered by Safety and Security.

Thank you for choosing Hamline University and we look forward to seeing you on campus!

    Sincerely,

    Andrea Vircks
    Director, Safety and Security
