Access Requests
Students who require access to a classroom after regular hours must request after-hours permission from their professor. The professor can activate after-hours permission on Piperline. Under "Employee Services" the professor will find a "Grant After-Hours Permissions" link. Once the professor has completed and submitted the request online, the student will be granted after-hours access. Faculty unable to get in to their building after hours may also call our office for access.
Also, if you lock yourself out of your room or office, simply give us a call or stop by and we can usually let you in (Students: Remember, there is a $25 charge for letting you in to your room if you get locked out!).
Escorts
Hamline University Safety and Security Services is committed to providing a safe environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. To assist in meeting this goal, Hamline University Safety and Security Services offers a 24-hour safety escort service to the Hamline University community and guests. Escorts are provided to, from, or within campus only. They are provided to or from a person's home, vehicle, or other mode of transportation within the authorized geographic area of campus. The escort boundaries are: Dan Patch Avenue (North), I-94 (South), Lexington Parkway (East) and Cleveland Avenue (West). Hamline Park Plaza is included in the escort area. Click here for a map.
Hamline ID
You can get your Hamline University ID at the Office of Safety and Security. Anyone requiring a replacement University ID will have a $10 charge applied to their account.
Key Replacement & Generation
Safety and Security Services serves as the central clearinghouse for traditional key and and proximity card replacement and creation. If a key needs to be made (or proximity card access granted), the appropriate form must be picked up from the Safety and Security office, filled out and signed by the appropriate department authorities.
Jump Starts
If your car won't start due to a dead battery, call or stop by and an officer will assist you with a mobile battery pack. This service is available to anyone that does not have outstanding parking fines. As with any service, this service may be delayed when officers are attending to other duties.
Lost & Found
If you lose anything, stop by our office and/or the closest collection point to where you believe you lost the item and see if we have it. If you find anything that has been lost, please bring it to us.
Collection points: Bush Student Center Front Desk, Bush Library Circulation Desk, Law School Reference Center, Law Grad Conference Center, Giddens Learning Center, Room 107W, Sundin Music Hall, Law Library, and Post Office.
Noise Complaints
It's late at night, your neighbors are having a wild party and you are trying to sleep or study. Just call our office if you need help asking them to quiet down. Contact Residential Life if you are having an ongoing problem with someone making too much noise.
Visitor Parking
Visitors to Hamline University Visitors take a ticket to enter the ramp and park in any open, non-reserved stall then take the elevator to the first floor and check-in with the front desk. Visitors will checkout at the front desk, and that time they will be given the proper amount of vouchers to exit no charge from the ramp. Vouchers are available in 1 hour and 4 hours increments. The Anderson front desk is able to exit visitors remotely from the desk phone also.
