    Mission and Goals

    The purpose of the HAMLINE BLACK ALUMNI COUNCIL is to:

    • Support the activities, goals and mission of PRIDE Black Student Alliance, Hamline African Student Association and other Black Student organizations;
    • Serve as a link among the Black undergraduate and graduate alumni, faculty and staff at Hamline University;
    •  Sponsor activities that would recognize the history, contributions and struggles of Black alumni, faculty and staff;
    • Facilitate the development of scholarships, grants and other financial assistance;
    • Promote the development of skills for the purpose of becoming an active community participant by:
      • Giving back to the community
      • Mentoring
      • Networking
      • Fostering Career Development
      • Assisting in the recruitment and retention of Black students
       
    • Provide a conduit for the interchange of ideas, values and skills between Black alumni, present and former students, faculty, staff and friends of the University.

    History and Global Studies Professor Katharine Bjork's article, "Prairie Imperialists: The Bureau of Insular Affairs and Continuities in Colonial Expansion from Nebraska to Cuba and the Philippines," was published in the Winter 2014 issue of Nebraska History Quarterly.

    Director of Sundin Music Hall and Adjunct Professor for Digital Media Arts Silvester Vicic was commissioned by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Chicago radio station, WFMT to produce a 13-week broadcast series of the orchestra's performances.

    The Foundations of Management classes invite all students to their Management Education Conference, "From Present to Future: The Next Generation of Managers" on Tuesday, November 25 in Anderson Center Room 111/112 from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m.
