1. You May NOT need copyright permission...
a) If the article, book, or chapter is in the library databases, you can provide one-click access from Blackboard. Here's how:
b) For help, contact your Bush Library Liaison or the Reference Desk. Law faculty should contact the Law School Library for assistance.
c) Not there? Continue....
2. You will need:
- ISBN (or ISSN) Number
- Publication Title and/or Publisher
TIP: Bookmark this page for easy access in the future.
4. Search for a Publication:
a) Enter the title or Standard Number (ISBN/ISSN) of the publication that you wish to use.
b) Use the check boxes to select the Permission Type(s) you need.
c) Click the "Search" button
The results will be either:
Show a green checkmark which indicates that there is coverage under our Annual Copyright License or item is the public domain.
Show a red crossed-out symbol which indicates that the type of use for the item is NOT COVERED under our license.
5. Still want to use an article that is not in the Annual Copyright License?
Please contact the publisher directly.
Additional Search Tips
Be sure to search by publication title, not article title. For example, if you wish to use an article from Wall Street Journal, search for "Wall Street Journal."
Searching by Standard Number (ISBN/ISSN) is the easiest way to get an exact match for the publication you are looking for.
While we do recommend searching by publication title or Standard Number, you can also search by publisher or author. Please be advised that searching on publisher or author will likely return numerous results. If you search by publisher, the current copyright holder (rights holder) is also searched. All publications with a matching publisher name or matching copyright holder are included in the search results.
Searches are not case sensitive.
