• Fitness Frequently Asked Questions

    What fitness opportunities are available?
We have a variety of options for all fitness levels. For those seeking more structure we offer Zumba and Yoga-Sculpt classes through Campus Recreation and Yoga (traditional) and Pilates through Human Resources. You also have the option to utilize the Clarence Nelson Fitness Center in Walker Fieldhouse at no additional cost.

Is there a cost to participate in fitness classes?
In some cases there is a charge to join a fitness class. Currently, Zumba and Yoga-Sculpt cost $20 each for a 6-week class. Cash or Check payments should be made out to "Hamline University Campus Recreation" and brought to the Recreation Desk in the lower level of Walker Fieldhouse before the first class.

Are fitness classes open to anyone?
Only students, staff and faculty are allowed to participate in fitness classes at this time.

    Where are fitness classes held?
Most classes are held in the Ballroom on the third floor of the Bush Center. In some cases when there is a scheduling conflict, classes may be moved to the Main Lounge of Manor Residence Hall.

Am I required to bring anything to fitness classes?
All class participants should wear comfortable workout clothing. It is also recommended that you bring a towel and a beverage as well. We also recommend that Yoga-Sculpt participants bring their own yoga mats, as we only have a limited number available for use.

Could I teach a fitness class?
Typically, the instructors who teach our fitness classes are students that have received certification in the class they are teaching. We are always looking for motivated and passionate individuals to teach classes. If you have or are interested in teaching a class please contact Campus Rec at x2817.
