"Energy Efficiency: The Greatest Potential"
This presentation is part of the 200-2008 Hamline Dialogues Series titled "Managing Our Resources: Energy, the Environment, and Sustainability"
Date: Thursday, October 18, 2007
Panelist: Branko Terzic, Energy & Resources Group, Deloitte Services LP.
Description: Society faces the intertwined problems of obtaining energy security while mitigating climate change effects. Demand for energy, for use in electricity production and transportation, continues to increase globally while new sources of energy supply are more remote, expensive and difficult to produce in the case of fossil fuels, or, in the case of the nuclear option, face political barriers. Improving energy efficiency would have the dual effects of lowering supply needs while at the same time mitigating climate change effects. What are the barriers to improved energy efficiency? What needs to be done? Who should do it?
