David Davies, associate professor of anthropology and director of East Asian studies program, and Taylor Seeman (CLA '09) have published essays in a new book by Cornell University Press. The volume, Walmart in China,
presents a collection of essays by a transnational group of scholars and labor activists that examine the relationship between the global corporation and the world's most populous nation--tracing them from factory production to store culture.
Davies' essay is titled, "Corporate Cadres: Management and Corporate Culture at Walmart China." Davies and Seeman authored a second chapter, "A Store Manager's Success Story." The research for the co-authored chapter was funded in part by the College of Liberal Arts' summer collaborative research program.
