Professor Melissa S. Embser-Herbert has been appointed director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, beginning July 2012. Embser-Herbert joined the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts in 1995. From 1999 to 2002, Dr. Embser-Herbert served as assistant dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Embser-Herbert teaches courses that focus primarily on issues of inequality and social justice. She taught her first hybrid course in the late 1990s and is highly proficient in all aspects of teaching and learning pedagogy, as well as learning outcomes, assessment, Quality Matters, Blackboard, and several social media tools. The Center for Teaching and Learning is excited to have Embser-Herbert leading the center.
