Hamline University's Model United Nations Program
, in partnership with the United Nations Association of Minnesota, hosted the Global Classrooms State Model United Nations Conference at Hamline University on March 22. More than 200 high school students from eight area high schools participated in a day long simulation of the United Nations. This year's conference topics were:
*Durable solutions and burden-sharing concerning refugees
*The situation in the horn of Africa; drought, famine, and the refugee crisis
*Security in refugee camps.
Members of the Hamline University Model UN Team served as chairs of committees, mentors, and volunteers for the conference. The members of the Hamline Model UN Team this year are: Sarah Gengler, Joe Sathe, Georgia Patrascu, Robyn Sellman, Peter Fischer, Ben Surma, Pat Savage, Heigh Fahning, Emily Richey, Kristin Decker, Rachel Johnson, Ruby Crews, Anne Marie Sketch and Eleanna Mathioudis. Professor Karen Vogel, political science, is director of the Hamline University Model United Nations Program.
