Professor Mary B. Trevor started her legal career as a business litigator at Leonard, Street and Deinard in Minneapolis. After leaving practice, she taught Legal Research and Writing (LRW) at the University of Minnesota and at William Mitchell College of Law. Trevor also was a legal writing tutor at William Mitchell, served as an academic success tutor at Hamline, and taught Civil Litigation and Trial Practice at the Minnesota Legal Assistant Institute.

Trevor first taught LRW at Hamline briefly in the early nineties and returned in 1998. She became the interim director of the LRW Department in the 2007-08 academic year and has served in the years since then as the department's director. Trevor also periodically teaches “Writing to Persuade” for the Dispute Resolution Institute.

Trevor served as the associate editor for the Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Employment in the early 2000s, and currently is a frequent co-editor with Professor Giuseppe De Palo, Hamline’s International Professor of ADR Law & Practice, of books and articles about the use of ADR in international business transactions.

Her scholarly interests include international trends in dispute resolution, cross-cultural education, and the role of humor in our legal system.
