• Office of the Dean

Thank you for your interest in Hamline Law, where we equip students with the tools you will need to become successful advocates and problem solvers for clients or employers.

We at Hamline Law are very excited about our future.  We are ranked 3rd in the nation in dispute resolution by U.S. News & World Report (2015 Edition).  Our health law program ranks 15th nationally.  And after steadily rising in the overall U.S. News rankings, Hamline Law is now recognized as Minnesota’s top private law school.

Rankings only tell part of the story, but we are very pleased that the legal community has validated something that what we already knew – that Hamline Law is a truly outstanding law school.  We are a collaborative community of learners powered and supported by an incredibly devoted and committed faculty and staff.

At our recent annual Dean’s Dinner, keynote speaker James Stewart regaled an esteemed group of leaders in Minnesota’s legal community with tales from his latest book.  In addition to being a prolific author, Mr. Stewart is a columnist for The New York Times and serves as the Bloomberg professor of business journalism at Columbia University. Surely, there is no better example today of the versatility and value of a JD degree.

We are committed to equipping versatile, problem-solving lawyers because we place great value in the notion that there are – as Mr. Stewart demonstrates -- a myriad of pathways available to those equipped with a law degree.  Distinguished Hamline alumni include practitioners and judges, authors and scholars, small business owners and CEOs, analysts and politicians.  This brief video (above) introduces you to Hamline students who have put their Hamline JD to work in very powerful ways.   We hope you will keep their stories in mind as you contemplate all that is possible when you are equipped with a Hamline Law degree.
