Semester Exchange in Europe to Study Dispute Resolution
I first learned about Hamline’s leading role in dispute resolution when I attended the law school’s Rome Summer Abroad program Making and Saving Deals in the Global Business Environment in
Summer 2004,” explained Cinefra. “Following up that experience with a semester in residence at Hamline as an EC-FIPSE Fellow is a dream come true.

Modern law students understand the impact of globalization and are keenly interested in international experience. For most, however, the difficulty is translating that interest into opportunities. As lead partner in a program co-sponsored by the European Community and the U.S. Department of Education, Hamline is opening these doors for American law students. Summer study abroad, including externship placements in Italian firms as part of our Rome Study Abroad program, has long been a feature of Hamline’s ADR offerings. Now, pursuant to a three-year, $204,000 grant as part of the European Community-United States of America Cooperation Program in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training, Hamline students are eligible for semester abroad study at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy), the University of Deusto (Spain), or the Catholic University of Paris (France). The project is sponsored by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE: http://www.ed.gov/FIPSE/), U.S. Department of Education (http://www.ed.gov) and the European Commission’s Directorate General For Education and Culture (http://europa.eu.int/comm/dgs/education_ culture/index_en.htm). Additional U.S. partners include the Michael E. Moritz College of Law and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
