Basford Presents at Minnesota Minority Education Partnership

Hamline School of Education Assistant Professor Letitia Basford presented at the Minnesota Minority Education Partnership. Drawing from a paper co-written with Hamline School of Education Professor Joe Lewis and Masters of Arts in Teaching student Bridget Borer, Basford spoke to educators about the school-to-prison pipeline crisis. The primary purpose of the presentation was to expose the institutional racism and classism that feed the school-to-prison pipeline and to illustrate its very real impact on real people. Presenting with both of the young men who experienced the pipeline, Basford examined what K-12 schools and schools of education must do to resist and ultimately dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline.
