Faculty and staff have two opportunities to attend reading groups in preparation for Dr. Monica A. Coleman's forthcoming Mahle Lecture. Dr. Coleman's lecture, Becoming Buddhist When Jesus Isn’t Enough: A Third Wave Womanist Negotiates Race, Gender, and Religion, will reflect on the spiritual journey of activist, writer and professor Jan Willis. Chaplain Nancy Victorin-Vangerud has a limited number of copies of Willis' book for those interested in the reading group.
The dates for the reading groups are Monday, March 17 in Anderson Center Room 304 and Tuesday, March 18 in Anderson Center Room 302 both from 4:10 p.m.-6 p.m. and will include a dinner buffet. Professor Carolyn Holbrook and Professor Julie Neraas will help co-facilitate the discussion with Chaplain Nancy. Dr. Coleman will be the special guest for the faculty and staff lunch discussion on Monday, April 7 in the Drew Hall Conference Room from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Email Chaplain Nancy Victorin-Vangerud or call 651-523-2750 to RSVP for both opportunities.
Participants in the Staff Diversity Development Initiative may earn 10 points for attending a Mahle book club meeting. Staff will receive five points for attending the luncheon with Dr. Coleman on April 7. Visit the Staff Diversity Development Initiative
