A memorial service for former Hamline Law Assistant Dean Darrell Davis will be held this Friday, July 12 at St. Peter's AME Church located at 401 E. 41st Street in Minneapolis. Viewing will be at 11 a.m., and the service will begin at 12 p.m. Davis passed away on July 6, one day shy of his 58th birthday, after a long illness.
Davis served as Hamline Law's assistant dean for students and multicultural affairs until his illness and a car accident required him to take a leave in February 2012. His contributions to the law school and his impact on the lives of the students he touched are immeasurable.
Prior to his arrival at Hamline Law in 2007, Davis served as a Minnesota assistant attorney general, and later as in-house counsel at Honeywell and Graco.
Davis earned his JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and his BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association-Minnesota chapter, the American Bar Association, the Minnesota Black Lawyers Association, and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
Hamline Law Dean Donald Lewis has been asked to share remarks at the service at the request of family members.
