Hamline University is pleased to welcome Ann Ness as vice president of marketing and enrollment management. Ness begins her duties at Hamline on May 17. In this role, she will lead the teams of marketing and strategic communications, enrollment, and financial aid.
Ness brings to Hamline 30 years of experience growing and shaping global brands such as Cargill and Radisson Hotels Worldwide. Most recently, Ness spent 12 years at Cargill, a $130-billion privately-held agri-food enterprise based in Minnesota. There, she served in progressive roles as director of advertising and brand management and vice president for corporate brand management. She led the creation of a brand-building program designed to elevate Cargill’s profile worldwide.
Prior to her time at Cargill, Ness spent 10 years as director of marketing for Radisson Hotels Worldwide and eight years as vice president of a Saint Paul-based advertising firm. Ms. Ness is also a recent member of the Hamline University Board of Trustees, where she served for the past three years. She resigned that position to begin her new role with Hamline.

Ms. Ness has been actively involved in the Twin Cities community. She chairs the board of nonprofit Milkweed Editions, the nation’s largest independent publisher, and she previously served on the boards of Children’s Theatre, MacPhail Center for Music, and the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony.
Ness earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from Indiana University. She also completed her Mini-MBA through the University of St. Thomas and the Executive Leadership Program at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. She began her career as a newspaper reporter.
