Hamline Law Professor Thaddeus Pope, director of the Health Law Institute, recently published a second article co-authored with law student Melinda Hexum. The article, "Shared Decision Making and Patient Decision Aids," appeared in the Journal of Clinical Ethics. The pair also wrote, "Legal Briefing: POLST (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment)," which appeared in the winter 2012 issue of the same journal.
Pope participated in a webinar with over 750 participants, "Does the Concept of 'Medical Futility' Help Clinicians?" from Children's Mercy Bioethics Center in Kansas City on February 5.
Pope also is one of three invited speakers in Amarillo College's 29th annual Creative Mind Humanities Lecture Series. On Thursday, March 28, he will make two presentations. His presentation, "Facebook Can Help You Die - Better," will take place at 12:30 p.m., and he will present, "Averting Today’s Biggest Public Health Epidemics with Social Media," at 7 p.m.
