The Hamline Law Federalist Society is pleased to host "The Future of Gun Rights," presented by speaker Alan Gura of Gura & Possessky, PLLC, on Jan. 22.
Gura will discuss development in Second Amendment cases that are currently being litigated throughout the country. He has been directly involved with litigating a number of cases. He will discuss the major issue carrying handguns outside the home for self-defense. Gura will include examples of the District Court in Maryland that struck down that state’s may-issue law in Woollard v. Sheridan and the Seventh Circuit Court’s hearing in Moore v. Madison, a challenge to Illinois’ ban on the carrying of handguns. He will conclude with discussion of where the courts are headed on these issues and open up for some brief debate and dialogue with attendees.
One standard CLE credit has been applied for, and the presentation is free. It will take place at 11:30 a.m. in Room 101 of the School of Law.
