Pilgrim Fires In 23 But Piper Women BB Rally Falls Short

Steph Pilgrim

Steph Pilgrim (pictured) torched Northwestern for a season high 23 points but Hamline's women's bb team couldn't work all the way back from a deep hole and dropped a 71-61 decision in Roseville Friday night.

Parly due to the fact that Jordan Sammons picked up two early fouls and missed most of the half the Pipers (2-6 overall) got off to a slow start, trailing 23-8 early. Led by Pilgrim, they began to clmb back into things but ended the first session down 36-24.

Sammons, who finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, came out of the break with a vengeance and -- combined with Pilgrim's continued solid shooting -- sparked a second half comeback that saw HU close within four points on two occasions. But that is as close as they could get and the Eagles pulled away at the end.

Hamline is off until January 2 when they host Macalester at Hutton Arena.
