The Piper women's hockey team had more offense but it wasn't enough in a 4-3 loss at St. Mary's Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Verleye, Chelsea Koehn and Haley Johnson all had a goal and an assist. Hamline is now 1-4-0 overall, 0-2-0 in the MIAC.

Down 1-0 after a period, Verleye combined with Koehn and Johnson to tie the game at 7:37. The Cardinals went back ahead at 10:25 but Koehn's first college goal 76 seconds later retired the game at 2.

SMU got the next two goals with Johnson responding with her initial marker of the season at 18:40. Sarah Schneekloth, who had 22 saves, was pulled for a sixth attacker but the Pipers couldn't get the equalizer.

Hamline plays St. Olaf next weekend. The teams play Friday night in Northfield. HU will then play its first game of the season at Warner Coliseum Saturday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m.
