The format was a bit different. But there was no questioning the overall results. Hamline's men's swimming team, led by Parker Johnson's second place finish beat back Macalester and Simpson to take the men's crown and junior Marissa Smith finished in third place in the individual race on the women's side in the Augsburg Pentathlon held at St. Catherine's October 20.

In the pentathlon, you swim several individual events with points assigned for where you finish. Johnson, a freshman from Wayzata, totaled 83 points, finishing just four points out of first place. Another freshman, Tyler Stanchfield, finished 5th with soph Ben Smidt coming in sixth. Hamline's men total of 446 points easily bested the Scots (311) for first place.

The women's team finished fourth overall with 678.5 points. Smith, a junior, was a solid third with 201 points. The best Piper finisher was frosh Jennie Dwyer, who finished in 15th place.
