The mark of a good team is scoring depth. Hamline showed off some of that ... and some playing depth as well in a solid 3-0 win over Wis-Superior Tuesday at Paterson Field. Kelsey Carraciolo (pictured at right) scored twice and Heather Hollinger added a goal to support Molly Jacobs' seventh shutout of the season. HU held the edge in play most of the afternoon, outshooting the Yellowjackets, 29-4 en route to improving to 9-3-1 overall. Hamline has won all six of its non-conference games this season.
Hollinger got things going at 20:58 when she took a pass from Caroline Exarhos, darted to the middle of the field and drilled her third goal of the season home. Carraciolo made it 2-0 12 minutes from a nice feed from Bri Garside. That was the halftime score but the margin could easily have been higher. HU failed to convert a penalty kick and hit the goalpost twice in the first 45 minutes of play.
Carraciolo then capped the offensive day with her fifth of the season, converting a Kristin Poe feed and finding the far corner of the net. Jacobs made a pair of saves in the second half as she improved on her career record for wins and shutouts in a season.
Hamline, currently part of a four-team logjam for the final MIAC playoff position, returns to conference play this Saturday, October 13 at Carleton.
