It was exactly the type of  a game HU women's soccer coach Ted Zingman was looking for. After being held to one goal in 200 minutes in two games last week, Hamline's offense was in high gear all day in a 3-0 victory over Northwestern at Paterson Field Tuesday afternoon.

The Pipers outshot the Eagles, 23-1 as they improved to 5-1-1 overall. Aileen Scheibner scored two goals less than three minutes apart and Kelsey Carraciolo (No. 6 at right) also tallied for HU. Molly Jacobs lowered her goals-against average to 0.42 with 80:30 of perfect netminding. Sam Berger, playing her first collegiate game, hamdled the last 9:30 as Hamline posted its fifth shutout of the season.

The Pipers were aggressive all day. It finally paid off when Carraciolo muscled her way past two Eagle defenders and headed in a Keanna Mienert corner kick for her third goal of the year to make it 1-0 with18:25 left in the half.

In the second half, Scheibner nailed a penalty kick at 56:36 to up the margin to 2-0. Just two and a half minutes later, Scheibner took a Bri Garside pass and drilled a 15 footer home for her team leading fifth tally of the year. Alyssa Koulentis drew the second assist. Scheibner currently ranks third in the MIAC in goals and points (11).

Hamline continues this four-game homestand with a key MIAC matchup with Macalester Saturday, September 22. Game time at Paterson Field is 1:00 p.m.
