Mackenzie Remick and Lynsey Reimer (pictured at right) only had a brief stay in Beloit, Wis. last weekend. But they ... and their teammates ... had a blast while they were there. The duo were named to the All-Tournament team as the HU volleyball team was the only team to win all four matches. It is believed to be the first time ever that a Hamline volleyball team has started 4-0.
The Pipers were the only school to place two members on the team.
The sophomore pair represented opposite ends of the playing spectrum. Remick was the attacker all weekend, finishing with 43 kills for a 3.29 kill-per-set average. The 6-2 Prior Lake, Minn. native was also a force up front, registering seven blocks in 14 sets.
Reimer was superb on defense, recording 52 digs, an average of 3.71 per set. The Peosta, Iowa resident was particularly busy on the second day of the event, registering 36 digs in the wins over Marian and William Penn.
Remick, Reimer and their comrades are readying themselves for another busy weekend.
The Pipers host their own tournament at Hutton Arena this weekend -- the Hamline Invitational. On September 7, HU will face Presentation at 4:00 p.m. and come back to tangle with Wis-Stout at 8:00 p.m. On September 8, they meet Crown at 12:00 p.m. and wrap up the event with a match against Buena Vista at 4:00 p.m.
Wis-River Falls and Wis-LaCrosse are also participating.
