Hamline Law Weekend JD student John Medeiros has published a book of poetry. His long-awaited debut, “couplets for a shrinking world,” will be celebrated in a book release party on Friday, June 8 at Open Book, Target Performance Hall in Minneapolis.
Medeiros has received praise for this work, including the following from Rafael Campo, author of The Other Man Was Me, The Enemy and What the Body Told:
“Twins and lovers, halves and doubles, echoes and refrains, diptychs and couplets: thus we see our world reflected and refracted in all of its complexity in John Medeiros’ stunning new collection. ‘couplets for a shrinking world’ brilliantly displays how the best poetry is always two things at once, both gorgeously musical and painfully taut, imperfect bodies mirrored in liberated souls, voices divided by conflicted feeling and yet ultimately joined in a singular and empathetic wisdom.”
Medeiros’ book release party begins at 7 p.m. Open Book, Target Performance Hall is located at 1011 Washington Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55415.
