Softball Falls Twice At Hope International

The Piper softball team knew they were up against a veteran Hope International team that had already played 34 games. As such, they knew their margin of error would be slim. Two errors in one inning proved costly in a 5-4 loss in the first game of a doubleheader. HU also lost the finale, 4-0, and fell to 1-9 overall on the season.

In the lidlifter, HIU scored three first inning runs only to see the Pipers strike back with four in the second frame. Lauren Turitto slammed a two-run homer and Bethany Hine added a two-RBI double for a 4-3 lead. But HIU came back in the third with a run to tie it and won it the next inning on a pair of errors.

In the second game, Hamline was held to two hits -- singles by Lauren Clouston and Elaina Hammann.

The Pipers wrap up their California trip Wednesday at Biola.
