Hamline BB coach Jason Verdugo earned his 200th career victory Monday night as Hamline overwhelmed Wisconsin-Stout 7-3 at the Metrodome Monday night. Thanks to Andy King's booming bat, the Pipers (2-3 overall) put the game away early, scoring two runs in the first inning and four more in the second.
King lined a two-RBI double in the first inning to offset a run in the top of the frame. With two out and nobody on in the second, Jordan Rubbelke and Jordan Buck drew back-to-back walks. Mark Radmacher laced a single to right to score Rubbelke. King then drove an 0-1 pitch half a dozen rows back in left field for his second longball of the season and a 6-1 lead.
That was more than enough for Matt Mullendore, who allowed three runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings to get the win. Rob Miller pitched the last 1.1 innings of shutout relief to wrap things up.
