Men Win Three Events At Mac Pre-Conference Meet

If statistics are any indication, Christian Willman, Joe Morelli and Andrew Schlichting are ready to go for this week's MIAC indoor Track and Field Meet. The trio won their respective events as the Pipers' men's team took part in an unscored Pre-MIAC meet at Macalester. The team also recorded six personal bests, including a 2-4-5 finish in the 800 Meter Run.

Willman's 51.02 finish edged teammate D.J. Weil (whose 51.27 was his best time of the season) in the 400 Meter Dash. Morelli also had to battle a teammate for top dog status in the Shot Put. Morelli's 50-04.00 performance topped Brennan McKeag, who was second at 48-08.25. Schlichting won the Weight Throw with with a toss of 53-08.25. (Dan Anderson was 3rd at 47-01.50).,

The Pipers didn't win the 800 meter Run but Jack Deichert's 1:55.58 effort was his season high and bettered the old Mac Fieldhouse record set by HU alum Ian Campbell in 2010. Ryan Peterson (4th-1:59.59) and Chris Reisdorfer (5th-1:59.75) had their best times of the season. so did Derek Ballandby in the 1000 meter run (4th-2:43.09). Travis Lahtzke was second with his best Triple Jump performance of 44-06.00.

A year ago, Hamline close to knocking off St. Thomas (which has won all 27 indoor titles), losing by eight points (166-158). With a strong field contingent and sprinters like Arthur Moore and Zach Hansen (who went 2-3 in the 60-Meter Hurdles), they have high hopes of going one step farther and claiming their first indoor crown.
