Women's Tennis Falls To St. Scholastica

Tennis scores can sometimes be deceptive. Exhibit A: Consider Hamline's women's tennis team, which dropped a 7-2 match to st. Scholastica Saturday at the U of M baseline Center. Two of the singles matches went the full three games. One of the double matches went into tennis' version of overtime.

Carissa Wallerich, at number three singles and Elizabeth Allen at No. 6 provided the HU victories. Allen's win was particularly dicey. She came from down a set to win 6-3 and then outlast her opponent for a 13-11 win in the third set. Nicole Krier at No. 2 singles nearly pulled off the same feat. After losing the first set 4-6, she stormed to a 6-2 win to force a third set. She ran out of steam there, though, falling 2-10.

All three doubles matches were competitive with Anna Yarbrough and Katie Tarnowski coming the closest with a 9-7 loss.

Hamline, now 0-2, will play at St. Cloud State next Saturday.
