It took Hamline nearly 58 minutes to solve St. Kate's goalie Sam Geissler. It was Ashley Maskel who solved the mystery of the Wildcats goalie with a power play goal. The rest of the night was spent attacking furiously in the SCU end. But it was too late. The Wildcats, in contention for the final playoff spot, had already built a lead and skated off with a 3-1 victory at Warner Coliseum.
Sarah Schneekloth was solid in the HU goal, making 29 saves, 22 of them in the first two periods. Schneekloth allowed a late first period goal that was the game's only marker until SCU scored twice in the first seven minutes of the final period.
Hamline is now 8-12-2 overall, 4-10-2 in the MIAC.
The teams play again Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Mariucci Arena on the U of Minnesota campus.
