It was Minnesota's annual showcase of gymnastics talent. And the Hamline Pipers showed they can hold their own quite well. The Pipers finished third overall, scoring 177.700 points. Courtney Benson, Jacklyn Clement and Summer Haag had the best HU efforts on the evening.
The annual meeting of the state's four gymnastics schools was held at the U of Minnesota Pavillon.
Benson finished fourth in the overall All-Around (trailing three UM gymnasts) with a score of 37.850. She was sixth in Floor Exercise (beating out one Gopher), seventh in Uneven Parallel Bars and Balance Beam and tied for 10th in the Vault.
Clement was the top HU finisher in the Vault, coming in eighth. Haag had the other Top 10 effort, placing ninth on the Uneven Parallel Bars. Her All-Around total of 35.900 points earned her 5th place in that competition.
Minnesota won the meet with 195.425 points. Winona State, which visits HU for a meet on Feb. 26, was second with 182.00. Gustavus trailed the Pipers with a score of 172.550.
