The peer-reviewed, international academic Journal for Critical Animal Studies recently published, "Challenging Whiteness in the Animal Advocacy Movement," written by Anthony J. Nocella II, visiting professor in the School of Education. The article is directed toward people who identify as white within the animal advocacy movement in the U.S. and Canada. While there are many people of color involved in the animal rights movement, the movement remains dominated by people who identify as white, both theoretically and in practice. The article argues that the issue of white hegemony within the movement has not been adequately addressed. To read this article visit, journal.hamline.edu.
