Having knocked down one team ahead of them on Monday (a 83-77 win at Augsburg), the Piper Men's BB team now marches into the lion's den of the league leaders. Fortunately, it's a short drive. The Tommies are the defending NCAA Division III champs. They stand 12-4 overall, 9-2 in the MIAC.
Things have changed a bit since their last meeting that saw UST win, 94-77, at Hutton Arena on Dec. 5. At that time, HU had fallen to 0-2 in the league and had lost four games in a row overall. Since then, the Pipers have found offensive life and now stand in fourth place with an 8-4 MIAC mark (10-7 overall). They lead the league in overall offense (78.1 ppg). Mike Campbell
leads the conference with 45 steals and is tied for 20th nationally in that department. (He's also 8th in scoring in the MIAC) . Dior Ford
has become one of the best first-year players in the league (5th in Field Goal percentage and Blocked Shots).
This game ends a hectic stretch of five games in 10 days for the Pipers. After tonight, they will get a chance to catch their collective breaths for the stretch run. Hamline is off Saturday and plays at St. Olaf Monday night.
