Swimmers Hold Their Own at Citrus Classic

Hamline's swimmers heated up with the Arizona weather. Although out numbered in size, HU held their own nicely in the competition. Michelle Vargason recorded a sixth place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke and came in 7th in the 200 yard version of the race.

On the men's side, Zack Lameyer had the top finish of the day when he came in fifth in the 1650 Freestyle. Ben Smidt was on the fly all day, placing 7th in the 200 and 100 yard races. Corbin Conliffe turned in a credible 8th place finish in the 100 freestyle and was 10th in the same 100-yard fly that Smidt was in. Jerry Daniels was 10th in the 50 Free.

Coach Frank Vaccaro was pleased with the effort, saying he didn't worry about the scores since the Pipers were badly outnumbered.

Hamline's next meet is January 7 when they join Macalester at the St. Olaf Triangular.
