It was exactly the sort of bench help coach Kerri Stockwell has been looking for. Steph Pilgrim scored 14 points and starters Kara Poirier and Jordan Sammons added 10 each but it wasn't enough as Hamline dropped a 72-52 decision to Concordia Saturday afternoon in Moorhead
Although Hamline shot well in the first half (40 per cent), the Cobbers one-upped them by firing 55 per cent en route to taking a 39-25 intermission edge. They started the second half strong and improved their lead to as many as 26 points. HU, which lost three road games this week, dropped to 2-4 overall, 1-4 in the MIAC. The Pipers had ballhandling issues, committing 21 turnovers.
Pilgrim, however, continued to impress. Although she has not started, she is averaging 22 minutes per game and ranks fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 8.7 PPG. This was the third time this year she has been in double digits for points. The 14 recorded Saturday is a season high.
Hamline returns to action Dec. 19 when they face pacific (OR) in a tournament in Daytona, Fla.
