Sara Holland (Sr., Dousman, Wis.) one-upped herself at the MIAC Women's Cross Country Meet in St. Paul. A 20th place finisher last year, Holland finished 19th today in a field of 273 runners. Unfortunately, the Pipers, who were seventh last year, dropped a place and ended up eighth with a total of 199 points. They were six points out of seventh and just nine out of sixth place.
Holland ran the 6K course in a time of 23:27, just one second behind St. Ben's Kaycee Knutson and 16 seconds better than her 2010 time. Maria Theisen (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) was the Pipers' next best finisher, coming in 30th in a time of 23:54,. That was a significant improvement over her 69th place finish of a year ago. Carolyne Bocovich (Jr., Andover, Minn.) also improved on her 2010 effort, moving up 10 places to 42nd place (24:18). She was followed by Emily Smith (Fy., Colorado Springs, Col.), who was 47th (24:28) and Dani Vitali (So., Chisago City, Minn.) came in 61st (24:54).
