Hamline student Bryan Porter may only be in his first year of college, but he’s already making a name for himself on the big stage.

Porter stars in “Bat Boy: The Musical”, a hit production returning to the Twin Cities for the first time since its 2004 debut. Presented by the Minneapolis Musical Theatre, “Bat Boy” has garnered many accolades, including Best Musical Awards at both Outer Critics Circle and the Lucille Lortel Awards.

“This is an outrageous, deliciously daffy musical,” said Steven Meerdink, MMT artistic director.

The plot revolves around Edgar, a half boy and half bat creature discovered by spelunkers and his subsequent struggle to be accepted yet still stand out. Featuring off-kilter satire and clever musical numbers, the musical has entertained audiences since its critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway premiere.

Porter plays the character of Rick Taylor, the vengeful former boyfriend of Shelley, who is falling in love with Bat Boy.

The production runs October 28 – November 13 at the Minneapolis Musical Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit the Minneapolis Music Theatre website
