Volleyball Loses Close Match To Carleton

Statistics ...particularly final scores ... can sometimes be deceptive. Hamline fell, 3-0, at Carleton Friday night. But the margin wasn't as wide as you might surmise. For example, in game 1, a 22-25 loss, the Pipers held the lead at one point. The final margin of three was one less than the widest lead of the entire game. The second game wasn't as close (17-25) but the third game was a dandy that saw the score tied 15 times before the Pipers finally succumbed, 25-27.

Hamline fell to 8-14 overall, 0-5 in the MIAC.

Paige Walters (Fy., Nevis, Minn.) led the offense with 10 kills and an excellent .316 hitting percentage. Sammie Miller (Fy., Grand island, Neb.) had 34 assists. Her twin sister Frankie led a balanced dig effort with 15. Brittany Bredemus (Fy., Andover, Minn.) had 14 and Hanna Arns (Fy., Waverly, Iowa) contributed 11.

The Pipers get little time to rest. They face Bethel Saturday afternoon at Hutton Arena. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
