Hamline School of Education Professor Walter Enloe has been named the Gordon B. Sanders Chair in Education by Hamline University President Linda Hanson on the recommendation of Acting Dean for the Hamline School of Education John Pyle.
As Sanders Chair, Enloe will serve as a focus of excellence and make clear Hamline’s continuing commitment to service through the training of teachers. He will do research, write publications, and coordinate professional activities for the Hamline School of Education. In this role, he will also work to keep Hamline University in the forefront of teacher education through community partnership organization and communication.
In 1987, one million dollars was gifted to Hamline to establish this Endowed chair in education in honor of Dr. Gordon Sanders, who taught social studies at South High School in Minneapolis and later served as Hamline University’s lawyer and as a professor in management and economics. The gift funds the Endowed chair position and provides considerable resources to that chair for programming and service to the larger teacher education community.
