In their second game of the day, the Pipers headed north to take on Saint Mary's at Bethel University's field.
As the visitors on the scoreboard, Hamline knocked out five hits and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Bethany Hine led off with a single to right field and immediately scored as Tacheny stepped to the plate and hit a double to left field. A single from Heidi Larsen moved Tacheny to third and then Erin Farley hit a single to score Larsen.
Hamline's third run of the inning came from an RBI-double by Lauren Turitto.
The Cardinals, who had lost their opening game against Gustavus by a score of 3-0, scored a run in the bottom of the first to get on the board.
Hamline held onto the 3-1 lead until the Cardinals have a three-run fourth to go up, 4-3. They used five hits to tally the runs.
Saint Mary's then added three more runs in the sixth, going up 7-3.
In the top of the final inning, Hamline's first four batters got on base and Kara Poirier scored on an RBI single from Larsen.
Hamline then had the bases loaded with no outs, but a pop-out to the pitcher ultimately resulted in a double-play as Larsen was caught on first, as well. The Cardinals then forced a fly-out on the next batter to end the game.
Tacheny threw five innings as she also took the loss in the second game.
