The Hamline University men's tennis team started off the match by winning two of the three doubles matches, but dropped a 6-3 match to Saint John's University at home on Wednesday.
David Croonquist and Bernard Mitambo partnered for the win at first doubles, 8-6, to start off the day for Hamline. Sam Teitelbaum and Andrew Lutz won by the same score at third doubles.
Unfortunately for the Pipers, the Johnnies rebounded in singles and took five of the six matches for the team win.
Mitambo provided the lone match win at third singles, taking the 6-3, 6-1 match.
Teitelbaum fell in a super-breaker at fifth singles, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-11. Robert Becker also lost in a super-breaker at second singles, 1-6, 7-5, 3-10.
Hamline is now 7-8, 2-4 MIAC while the Johnnies are 7-6, 1-5 MIAC. Hamline next plays on Monday, April 18, at Bethel at 4:30 p.m.
